Buggie FAQ
Is Buggie free to play?
Yes. Buggie is free to play in any modern web browser. There is nothing to download or install, and you can start a run straight from this page.
Is Buggie pay-to-win?
No. Every floor, companion, evolution and piece of gear is earned by playing, and nothing for sale makes you stronger.
Do I need an account to play Buggie?
No. Guests get the whole game, with progress saved in the browser. An optional account adds cloud saves across devices, your best runs on the leaderboard and achievements — and a run started as a guest comes with you when you sign in.
How long is a run?
As long as you like. Each floor is a short branching map, and the game saves after every battle and every step on the map, so you can stop at any moment and pick the run up later. Reaching floor 100 is a long campaign.
Does Buggie have a story?
Yes. Buggie wakes up with no memory in a withered garden and something calls her from below. Each evolution brings back a memory, every death sends her back to the top, and at the bottom someone is waiting who knows her. The story has four endings, and your choices with your companions decide which one you reach.
Can I play Buggie on my phone?
Yes. Buggie runs in mobile browsers on phones and tablets, in portrait or landscape, as well as on desktop. It can also be installed to the home screen and played full screen.
Can I install Buggie like an app?
Yes. On a phone, use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" (on iPhone: Share › Add to Home Screen); on a computer, use the install button in Chrome or Edge's address bar. Buggie then opens full screen, like an app.
Does Buggie get updates and events?
Yes. There is always something this week: a free season pass, a daily challenge with the same seed for everyone, a weekly modifier with its own ranking, a community boss that every player fights together and seasonal events.
How does evolution work in Buggie?
At floors 25, 50 and 75 Buggie chooses a new form. Each choice opens a different branch with its own skills, for fifteen evolved forms in total. Companions evolve separately, by completing their three-part personal story.
How does combat work in Buggie?
Battles are turn-based and speed decides who acts first. Six elements — Fire, Ice, Electric, Poison, Earth and Shadow — have strengths and weaknesses, so exploiting them while managing MP and items is the key to beating each zone's boss.
Is Buggie OK for kids?
Buggie is a cartoon pixel-art adventure about bugs, with turn-based battles and no chat with strangers. Anyone can play as a guest; creating an account requires being at least 14.
Which languages is Buggie available in?
English, Spanish, French, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. The game picks your browser's language and you can change it at the bottom of any page or in the game's settings.
