Cookie Policy

Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of data a website keeps in your browser. Buggie uses the ones needed to run the Game, and analytics only if you accept them.

Essential (always on)

These make the Game work and can't be switched off:

NameWhat it doesHow long
__Host-buggie_session (cookie; buggie_session on local http)Keeps you signed in90 days, or until you sign out (ends after 30 days without use)
buggie_signup (cookie)Remembers your verified email while you choose a player name15 minutes
buggie_locale (cookie)Remembers your language1 year
buggie_save (local storage)Your game progress as a guestUntil you clear it

Analytics (only with your consent)

ProviderNamesWhat it doesHow long
Google Analytics 4_ga, _ga_<id>Counts visits and how the Game is playedUp to 2 years
PostHogph_<key>_posthog (cookie and local storage)Product analytics: which features are usedUp to 1 year

Nothing is measured until you press Accept. If you press Reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, these tools never load. If you change your mind later, we remove their cookies.

Fonts for Japanese and Chinese

When you play in Japanese or Chinese, the Game loads fonts from Google Fonts. This sets no cookies, but Google's servers see your IP address.

Service worker (push notifications only)

If you turn on push notifications on a device, the Game registers a service worker (sw.js) that receives and shows them, even when the Game is closed. It is only registered when you turn on push; it stores no data and caches no pages, and once you turn push off it receives nothing. You can remove it in your browser settings.

Payments (PayPal)

The store, the Buggie Club and the pass set no cookies or storage of their own (the store only reads buggie_save to show Buggie in its current form). When you open a checkout, PayPal's button and card fields load, served by PayPal, and subscribing to the Club takes you to PayPal's website. PayPal may use its own cookies and storage, needed for the payment and fraud prevention, under its own cookie policy.

Your choices

  • Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to accept or reject analytics.
  • You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Game still works, but you'll be signed out and guest progress stored in the browser may be lost.
