Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Buggie, the browser game at buggie.fun (the "Game"). By playing, or by creating an account, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Game.

1. Who we are

Buggie is an independent game made and run by Daniel Soto, an individual developer based in Peru ("we", "us"). You can reach us at dasg.1993@gmail.com.

2. Who can play

  • Anyone can play as a guest, without an account. Guest progress is saved only in your browser.
  • To create an account you must be at least 14 years old, or older if the law where you live requires a higher age to consent to the processing of your personal data.
  • If you are younger, you may play as a guest with the permission of a parent or guardian, but please don't create an account.
  • To make purchases you must be 18 or older, or have your parent or guardian's permission (section 8a).

3. The Game

The Game is free to play, with optional cosmetic purchases (section 8), and is offered as it is today: we may add, change or remove features, reset balance or content, or stop offering the Game. We try to keep it available, but we don't promise that it will always be online, error-free or that your progress can never be lost.

Seasons, seasonal events, the weekly modifier, the daily challenge and the community boss are time-limited. We may change their dates, rules and rewards, extend them or end them early, and anything you don't earn while they run may no longer be available.

4. Your account

  • You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address. Keep access to that email account secure: whoever controls it can sign in to your Buggie account.
  • One person per account. The information you give us must be accurate.
  • You can rename your player, download your data or delete your account at any time from your account page.
  • We may suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms, after notifying you when reasonably possible.

5. Fair play

You agree not to:

  • cheat in ways that affect other players, such as submitting fake scores to the leaderboard;
  • attack, overload, scrape or disrupt the Game or its servers, or bypass its security or rate limits;
  • use player names that are offensive, hateful, impersonate someone else or infringe others' rights;
  • use the Game for anything illegal.

We may change or remove player names and leaderboard entries that break these rules. To keep competition fair, we may also remove results that are not plausible through normal play from the leaderboards (including daily, weekly and event rankings) and the community boss, and withhold or reverse rewards earned with them.

6. What other players see

If you have an account, your player name, deepest floor, score and play time can appear on the public leaderboard, and your player name and results can also appear on the daily, weekly and event rankings. Your email address is never shown to other players.

7. Our content

The Game, including its art, music, text, characters and code, belongs to Daniel Soto or is used under license. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to play the Game for non-commercial purposes. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.

8. In-game items and virtual currencies

Gold, gear, companions and other in-game items have no real-world monetary value, are not your property and cannot be sold, traded or exchanged for money.

Amber and event currencies (such as lanterns or snow crystals) are virtual currencies earned only by playing: they have no monetary value and cannot be bought with money, transferred to another account, exchanged for money or refunded. We may rebalance their amounts, prices and uses, and an event's currency may stop being usable when the event ends.

Everything sold in Buggie is cosmetic: nothing you buy gives a gameplay advantage, and Amber, upgrades and stats can never be bought with money or with Nectar. There are no loot boxes and no randomized paid items: before every purchase you see exactly what you get.

8a. Purchases: general terms

  • Who can buy. You need an account to buy. Before your first purchase you must confirm that you are 18 or older, or that your parent or guardian allows you to make it; we record the date of that confirmation. If you are a minor, your parent or guardian is responsible for the purchases they allow.
  • Spending limit. You can set an optional monthly limit on real-money spending; purchases over it are blocked until the next month. You can change or remove it at any time.
  • Prices and taxes. Prices are in US dollars (USD), and the final amount you pay is the one PayPal shows you before you confirm the payment (your bank or PayPal may charge currency conversion fees). Taxes apply as required by law. Prices always come from our catalogue and we may change them for future purchases.
  • Payments. Payments are processed by PayPal: we never see or store your card or bank details — we keep only the order, payment and subscription ids, the amount, the currency and the status, so we can deliver what you bought and handle refunds. We email you a receipt for every purchase and every renewal. Features marked as a test may run in PayPal's test environment and involve no real charge.
  • Immediate delivery of digital content. What you buy is digital content delivered to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed. By buying, you request that immediate delivery and, where a right of withdrawal for digital content applies (for example in the European Union), you acknowledge that you lose it once the content is delivered. This does not affect your consumer rights under Peruvian law (Consumer Protection and Defense Code, Law 29571) or any other rights the law of your country gives you that cannot be waived, including a refund if the content is not delivered or is faulty.
  • What you buy is a license. Skins, chromas, passes and other purchased content give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them in the Game while your account exists; they cannot be transferred to another account or sold.

8b. Nectar

Nectar is the Game's premium virtual currency and is bought with real money through PayPal. You can use it to buy skins, chromas and the premium season pass.

  • Nectar has no monetary value outside the Game, cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be transferred to another account and does not expire.
  • It is not refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • Nectar never buys Amber, upgrades or anything that affects gameplay.
  • If a Nectar payment is refunded or reversed (chargeback), we deduct that Nectar from your balance even if you have already spent it. Your balance may become negative; while it is, you cannot spend Nectar.

8c. Store, skins and chromas

  • Skins change Buggie's look in all of its forms; chromas are color variants of a skin, and you need the skin to wear its chroma.
  • The store shows a weekly rotation of featured skins. Store skins can only be bought with Nectar while they are featured, and some may later become available for Amber. Some skins are exclusive (to the Founder Pack, the season pass, the Buggie Club or events) and are not sold in the store.
  • You can try on any skin before buying it. The preview saves nothing until you buy.
  • Purchased content stays on your account, even after the skin is no longer on sale.

8d. Season pass

The premium season pass is cosmetic only: it unlocks the cosmetic rewards of the premium track of the season you buy it for (skins, chromas, palettes, trails, frames, titles and emotes) and gives no gameplay advantage. If you buy it mid-season, you receive the rewards of the levels you have already reached. Cosmetics you unlock stay on your account when the season ends.

The premium track of Season 0 is free for every player. From Season 1 on, the premium pass is bought with Nectar (500 Nectar), once per season.

8e. Founder Pack

The Founder Pack is sold for a limited time, until January 31, 2027 at 00:00 (UTC), and only once per account. For US$9.99 it includes: the legendary Pioneer skin with its 4 chromas, the "Founder" frame and title, the Founder badge, 300 Nectar and the Season 1 premium pass. Its content is exclusive and will not be sold again.

8f. Buggie Club

The Buggie Club is a monthly subscription of US$2.99 paid through PayPal.

  • Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically every month, and PayPal charges you at the start of each period, until you cancel it. We send you a reminder email 3 days before each renewal, with the amount and the date.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time, in one click, from the Club page (buggie.fun/club) or from your PayPal account. You will not be charged again, and the Club benefits last until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • What you keep. Each month you are subscribed you can claim that month's epic skin; a skin you claim is yours forever, even if you cancel later.
  • What lasts only while active. The +25% pass XP, the Club frame, title and badge, the name color on the leaderboard and the other Club benefits apply only while the subscription is active (or until the end of the paid period).
  • If a Club payment is refunded or reversed, or PayPal cannot collect the renewal, the Club benefits end.

8g. Refunds, chargebacks and fraud

If you request a refund or a chargeback, or PayPal reverses a payment, we may remove what you got with it (the Nectar, the Founder Pack content or the Club benefits). If we detect fraud, unauthorized use of payment methods or refund abuse, we may revoke the content obtained that way and suspend the account, without prejudice to your consumer rights.

8h. Complaints Book

Buggie has a virtual Libro de Reclamaciones (Complaints Book) at buggie.fun/libro-de-reclamaciones. You can file a complaint (reclamo) or grievance (queja) there; you receive a copy by email and an answer within 15 business days. If you file it signed in and with your account's email, the email contains the full sheet; otherwise it confirms the sheet number and dates and brings a private link to view, print or save the full sheet for 30 days (so the form can't be used to send text to other people's addresses). Filing it does not prevent you from using other ways to resolve a dispute, and it is not required before complaining to INDECOPI.

9. Disclaimers

The Game is provided free of charge (except for the optional purchases in section 8), "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that consumer protection laws give you and that cannot be waived.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of game progress or data. We do not exclude liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Ending your use

You can stop playing at any time and delete your account from your account page. Deleting your account permanently removes your cloud save, leaderboard entries, achievements, progression (Amber, upgrades, cosmetics, missions, streak and pass progress) and your notification settings and subscriptions, as well as your Nectar balance and the content you bought (skins, chromas, passes and the Founder Pack). If you have a Buggie Club subscription, we cancel it at PayPal so you are not charged again. Amber, Nectar and purchased content are not refunded or compensated when you delete your account, so use them first or settle any pending claim before. We keep the purchase records the law requires us to keep, detached from your account.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the date below and, for important changes, tell players in the Game or by email. If you keep playing after a change, the new Terms apply.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Peru, and disputes will be heard by the courts of Lima, Peru. This does not take away the mandatory protections of the consumer and privacy laws of the country or state where you live — including in the United States and in Latin America — which continue to apply to you.
